obrARCHITECTURE was tasked with revitalizing the 2.6 acres Chollas Annex Campus in the Chollas View neighborhood to house the America’s Finest Charter School’s K-8 programs. The campus will gain two ground-up structures and the complete renovation of the existing permanent classroom building and grounds. The two new buildings include the 25,800 square foot two-story Elementary and Administration building and the 7,600 square foot Multipurpose building. The Elementary School and Administration building will serve grades one through five and Special Education. The building includes indoor and outdoor collaboration spaces for education outside the traditional classroom. The renovated Building 200 will house Kindergarten, grades six through eight, the Learning Resource Center, and the Robotics Program. The landscape design surrounding Building 200 incorporates several outdoor learning environments for the middle schoolers. The Multipurpose building has been located on the lowest level of the terraced site programmatically for ease of access from students, staff, and deliveries. This building will provide indoor & outdoor assembly areas, Food Service, Janitor’s workroom, and several lunch dining options. The Kindergarten, Mid-level, and lower-level grounds have been redesigned to include playgrounds, turf field, outdoor instruction, “rampitheater”, and gardening areas. The project is schedule to break ground in Summer 2022.
