The Arts Promenade and Coffee Shop aim to add vitality to the southern region of the Irvine Valley College campus by providing art, performance, and social gathering spaces for the college community. Outdoor areas are being designed between the campus’ Performing Arts Center and Fine Arts Complex to provide large creation spaces with defined areas for sculpting, drawing, painting, music or theatric rehearsal. Spaces will be flexible with rich native Sycamore and Oak trees, low native plantings and can also be used for meditation, yoga, or collaborative study or creation. The arts will be showcased with a dedicated arts program for the promenade and campus, with spaces open for students to experience fellow students performing their artistic work outdoors. A 1200 sf coffee “sculpture” will anchor the site for food and beverage service and outdoor gathering.

While the project is not complete, it’s of notable importance as this particular project involves coordination with multiple ongoing DSA projects on site and is a grand effort by IVC to bring life and culture back to this community of learners and artists, after a COVID-19 era of distance learning and seclusion.
